Vanda coerulea, one of the most beautiful orchids in the world, can be found from high mountains of India and and Myanmar to some northern provinces of Thailand such as Tak province, ChiangMai, and Mae Hong Son province, growing as epiphytes on tree trunks in montane forest. Especially it is well know about its is well known about its tolerance of coldness.
This plant flowers in rainy season. A rare colour of it is blue that is a scarcity of a general orchid also. Moreover, its flower can give a wholly deep blue tessellation.
Vanda coerulea has been combined for creating numerous hybrids, between the groups of Vanda or crossing related species of it such as Acampe, Aerides, Arachnis, Ascocentrum,Doritis,Luisia, Neofinetia, Phalaenopsis, Renanthera, Rhynchostylis, Sarcochilus, and Vandopsis. Fortunately this unique blue colouration can be passed to its progeny with a large percentage.
It’s said that Vanda coerulea with the best quality can be found plentifully in the northern region of Thailand. Thus, by the following time, a development of a Vanda coerulea’s breeding gets the way for producing a blue and giving the best deep blue tessellation of this flower.
